Gloria Loughman's Craftsy Class
The class is Linear Landscapes and it was very informative. I took it over a year ago. My friend did also and she has already finished her project. I just dug mine out again and have been tweaking my fabric selections. These are rough cut. I just added the green. Originally I was going to have a fall scene as the final landscape has a couple trees in the front.
Auditioning fabrics with a toddler helping is challenging, but I am liking how it is coming together.

Scrappy Trips
I am finally back to sewing! I am mostly limited to early morning or when the two yr old is napping, but sometimes if he is watching tv with his sister or brother I can sew also.
I chose to work on Bonnie Hunter's Scrappy Trips http://quiltville.blogspot.com/p/free-patterns.html
It was technically a UFO but I only had made two blocks. I originally was going to do it in cool colors but soon got to throwing all sorts of fabrics in. I used up most of my pastel 2.5 inch solid strips left over from my hexigon quilt.
Here is a picture in progress. I just finished the top but don't have a pic yet of the full quilt as it doesn't fit on my design wall.

In late March Brandon, Natalie, and Austin came to live with me. Brandon had been visiting almost every weekend but now all three are here full time. They arrived Friday March 27th and I retired on March 31st. I was eligible to retire and had a long commute which wasn't a problem when I lived alone but it seemed daunting once I had a two yr old.

Las Vegas Trip
I had a fun Las Vegas trip last weekend. My oldest grandson, Stefan and I met up with my siblings there over Super Bowl weekend.
Here is Stefan, I was snapping his picture and he got distracted by a slot machine bonus.
We stayed one night on the strip, and then two out at Red Rock. This is a view from our window at Red Rock.
I also loved the carpet in our room looks like it would make a good background fill for quilting.

Haven't been sewing much....
I haven't sewn much and haven't posted since July 2014 so I will try and catch up. I got busy with a move to Dallas and longer commute to work. I have postponed my retirement for a year so I probably won't get a lot accomplished in 2015 but I plan to be a better blogger.
A woman visited Bear Creek Guild and she showed her first quilt. Pattern is Daybreak by Cosy Quilt Designs. She had a lost a friend to a disease and wanted to make a quilt for a fund raiser. Sorry, I don't have all the details. This was May or June of 2014. I kept getting a feeling to volunteer to quilt it for her. This is the last quilt I quilted last summer. I hope it did well in the fund raiser.

Rally Day
I went to TAQG Rally Day last Saturday. (Texas Association of Quilt Guilds) I had never attended before because it usually conflicts with family vacation.
Pat Speth of Nickel Quilt fame was the speaker and she gave two very interesting and informative lectures. She will be lecturing at Bear Creek Guild in Sept and I am going to take her workshop.
We received a goodie bag with contributions from the different guilds when we arrived. Below are the fabrics (fatquarter, fat sixteenths, and nickels) I received. There were other items in the goodie bag but I didn't snap a picture.
what a lot of scrappy goodness!
I used these fabrics to add new life to my 1.5 inch strips as I finished up my pineapple blocks. It is so fun to add a new fabric. I now have 90 blocks and I have been trying to decide whether to make more or add borders. I think I have an idea for a border and am anxious to get this to a completed top stage.
