Bonnie Hunter's Good Fortune

I haven't been posting but as usual for this time of year I am enjoying working on Bonnie's Mystery this year.  If you want to see what everyone else is doing click  Good Fortune part 5

I chose these colors for my palette.  oh, and neutrals - lots of neutrals.

I am working on clue 5.  Here are some of the components.  I am anxious to see how it turns out.  It has been especially fun because I have been sewing at Best Little Retreat Center in Texas for day  retreats with friends as we work on this quilt.

Christmas Visit in Memphis

Trash to Treasure Pineapple Quilt

A couple months ago I started this project.  I'd seen ones in person and on the internet that I really loved....however I am not too pleased with mine.  At first I was going to have all yellow centers then I changed because it seemed like too much yellow.  The final project is just a little too chaotic for me, but it has used up scraps.  I am piecing a backing and I will quilt it and use it as a lap quilt for myself.

New Design Wall

My son-in-law built me a new design wall. Isn't it great? Kaffe Fassett flannel, insulation, and trim. I am a very happy quilter.

Family Visit. Brandon is Graduating!

I have finished the giraffes:

I have been making split 9 patch blocks and I am thinking of putting an applique in the center.  It is still evolving.

Workshop With Shannon Brinkley

I visited Bear Creek  Guild last Tuesday and it was wonderful to see old friends.  The speaker was https://shannon-brinkley.com/    I enjoyed her trunk show and lecture.

I was able to take a workshop with the group the following day.  This is the project I started.  I had to leave early but it won't take me long to finish.  I bought a couple of Shannon's patterns.  I think they will be especially fun with grandies visiting this summer

Mini Mosaic quilts

well, it's been awhile since I've posted.  I had a great visit with family in Feb. Also, my main sewing machine went to the shop in  Feb.  It was gone for 3 weeks.

What I have been doing:

On Ringo Lake top done - next up to go on the frame
Poppy quilt on the frame
Pineapple blossom blocks completed - need to finish top

What has distracted me:

Mini Mosaics patterns by Cheryl Lynch.  Here is a link to video and information about ordering - mini mosaics

I have been having so much fun with these.

Pineapple Blossom Quilt

Well it's been a month since I posted.  I haven't finished anything lately.  I had a cold, and then when I was sewing the last seam on my On Ringo Lake quilt my machine broke.  So the machine is in the shop. I went into the closet and pulled  out a back up machine.

I had a day retreat with friends last week so I took my 2 inch scraps and some white on white fabric I'd like to use up and started a Bonnie Hunter Pineapple Blossom quilt.  I have added some sashing and I like that.  If I want to be consistent with the sashing and I particularly like the green I will need to buy more of it.  Just relaxed sewing.

Abstract Play

I made this little abstract piece playing with fabrics I had left over from the Design and Composition workshop I took with Deborah Boschert in October 2017.  I did most of the work before the Bonnie Hunter mystery started.  Today, I added a little more quilting and binding.  It is pushed pinned to my bedroom wall as the downstairs walls are all a  gray green that doesn't work well with the green in this piece.

I like it, but it needs editing - not that I am going to change it.  It is more a practice/play piece.  I am going to buy more clear push pins and use the wall in my room to hang little things like this for inspiration, ideas etc.  Note - it was cut straight so it may be I just need a pin in the lower right corner to get it looking straight.

ORL adding sashing and setting triangles

I worked on this today while sewing with friends.  It is coming along.   I am linking up to Bonnie Hunter's site - where you can get the pattern and see progress others have made on the mystery  here

Sashing options ORL

I have all the blocks made and now I am wondering about the sashing.  I am thinking if I change it to a green it will make the quilt less of a lavendar quilt.  Tomorrow is my small group retreat day so I hope to get the top together.  In the pic the sashing isn't - just laying on top.

Putting it together - On Ringo Lake

Actually I am still making blocks but I have put it on the design wall to see how the sashing will play.
